The Holy Hour: Almsgiving Project

The Holy Hour: Almsgiving Project

The Holy Hour is holding its annual Almsgiving Project throughout the month of November. We invite you to remember your deceased family members and loved ones by making a donation to CAREFOR. Carefor Health and Community Services is a registered charity home health care and community support service to the residents of Eastern Ontario. Carefor, established in 1898, was the first branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON). In October 2006, VON turned a new page in its impressive history being rebranded under the name Carefor Health & Community Services.

This year the Holy Hour is accepting donations made to CAREFOR for its Let’s Get Together program. This program offers clients with dementia and mental health issues a chance to enjoy activities to enhance their well being in a safe and supportive setting while providing respite — relief for a short period of time — to their caregivers who may be in need of rest, or time for other responsibilities in the day. This program also offers homemade muffins upon arrival, a 3-course meal at lunch and snacks throughout the day for a minimal cost. There are 3 locations for the Let’s Get Together program —- Carling Avenue, Lincoln Fields and Perley Hospital.

Tuesday Evenings throughout November the Holy Hour will be praying for Carefor as they offer up all the Holy Souls in Purgatory in remission for their sins.

If you wish to make a donation to Carefor please call Lucy Pagliaro at 613-225-1694 or come to the Tuesday 7:00pm Mass followed by The Holy Hour and place your donation in the donation box by the Statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. (Please make any cheque donations payable to Carefor.)
