The Primacy of Evangelization

The Primacy of Evangelization

When Jesus says to his disciples, you are the witnesses of these things, he says it to us as well.  You are witnesses … proclaim the good news!

We can feel more and more alienated because of our Christian beliefs and values.  We are in kind of a post-Christian world. The world, in a sense, sounds like it doesn’t want the Christian message, but it needs the Christian message.  It needs this message of forgiveness and repentance and salvation, and we are those witnesses.

We want everybody in this parish to be able to have some kind of encounter with the Lord, an experience where we can say that we just don’t know about God, but that we know Him.  Once we have this sense of knowing the Lord, we don’t want to be just private believers.  We want to grow in our ability to be disciples.

It’s great that we’re all here this morning, but we need to also have a heart for asking ourselves, where is everybody else?  Why aren’t more people here? And that’s a holy thought. It’s not something to get depressed about, or discouraged …  but just to have that yearning in our hearts .. what would it take to get them to come? What would it take to get them in a place where they want to know the Lord and want to grow in their faith?
