It’s All About Love

It’s All About Love

The readings for November 4, 2018 are:

First Reading – DT 6:2-6
Second Reading – Heb 7:23-28
Gospel  – Mk 12:28B-34

Jesus is teaching us the first and most important commandment, loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving our neighbour as ourself.

Where is my heart when I say, ‘I love you lord?’ Am I in love with the Lord or am I just loving him dutifully?

The greatest commandment is not just about service. It’s all about love. We need to be caught up in this kind of love. It is critical that we come to know this love.

When you are in love with someone it is easy to love them with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. If we are to follow this first commandment we need to be in love.

Sometimes there is competition that creeps into our lives. We ned to ask ourselves, “Do I love the Lord with all my heart?” Or, do I have other loves that take over?

  • Do I love the Lord with all my soul or am I still trying to keep secrets from him?
  • Am I loving the Lord with all my mind or am I picking and choosing the things I like and ignoring the things I don’t like?
  • Do I love the Lord with all my strength or am I a fair weather friend?

Jesus is inviting us again this morning,

Will you love me and hold nothing back?
