The Catholic Church has taught that we live once and we die once. What is our attitude towards death? Are we afraid to die? Do we avoid talking about it?
It is good to reflect on the reality of our death.
God gives us one life and the way we live this life will ultimately determine where we end up. The Church encourages us to prepare for the hour of our death. For example, in the Hail Mary we pray, “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.”
We don’t know when God will call us home. So, we are encouraged to be ready. Our life is short. How are we living? Are we living focused on this world? Or, are we focused on the world to come?
How can we ready ourselves for our death and our judgement?
- The Sacrament of Confession is there of our benefit. In the Sacrament of Confession we go to the doctor of our souls so we can be healed. What is our attitude towards the Sacrament of Reconciliation?
A good healthy practice is to go to confession once a month. Our souls are real. We need to take car of our them.
