Family

Faith Habit for the Month: Whether everyone writes it in their own little notebook, or shares it around the table at lunch, practice looking for and sharing the “one thing” that really spoke to you at mass on Sunday every week – whether it be something you learned from the readings, the homily, or the music. What did you learn about God’s character? What encouragement or suggestion did God give you? What did you hear that will help you become a better version of yourself this week? How can you put it into practice this week?

Our Next Class: Don’t forget! Our next class is February 13th at 7pm. Please arrive by 6:45 pm to sign in and get your materials for the month. This is the session in which we start our preparations for First Communion!

For Parents: The Alpha Program! (Starts tonight!)
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring life’s big questions and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Each session is a time of fellowship with others who are seeking to allow God, through the Church, to enliven their lives. Gathering once a week over ten weeks, we share a meal, and watch vibrant video teachings followed by discussions. Our next Alpha begins Thursday, January 24 at 6:30pm (this is an introductory evening). For more information, contact: alpha@stmauriceparuish.com or 613-290-6678.

For Parents: Movies with Meaning!
Saturday, January 26th at 7pm. For adults 18 and over. $3 per person. This month’s movie –
Hidden Figures: Three brilliant African-American women at NASA serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race and galvanized the world. Please join us for the film, fellowship and fun. Popcorn, too!! (I’ve seen this movie with my husband and we both found it to be fantastic! Definitely worth checking out.)

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL FAMILIES –

Baptismal Certificates: Although most families brought the baptismal certificate to show to us at our first class, we do require that each family submit a copy of their child’s baptismal certificate for us to keep on file for the program. You are welcome to either bring a photocopy to our next class, or you are welcome to scan/take a picture of your child’s certificate and e-mail it to me.
Whichever is easiest for you!

Please e-mail or bring in a copy even if your child was baptized at St. Maurice Parish. We would love to have you join us!

As always, you are more than welcome to join us at any of our masses this weekend. It’s a great opportunity to refocus and recharge for the week ahead. Our weekend mass schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday – 5pm. (Traditional music with cantor)
  • Sunday – 9am (Contemporary worship music, children’s liturgy offered, coffee social follows mass)
  • Sunday – 11am (Contemporary worship music)
  • Sunday – 7:30pm (Contemporary worship music)

May God bless the week ahead for you and your families!
God bless,

Ellen Hong
