Family Faith Habit for the Month

A great way for us to help ourselves and our families grow in faith is to share within our homes uplifting scripture verses and commit them to memory. Ways to use and share the verses might include posting them where your family is likely to see them (on the fridge, computer, prayer table, or bedroom), sending one in lunch boxes to school and work, and/or reading it together as part of your morning or evening prayer time together.  A link to some kid friendly scripture verses about God’s love is https://www.artfulhomemaking.com/valentines-day-bible-verses/

If you scroll down to the bottom, it includes links to several free, cute verse printables!

Lenten Family Workshop – Sunday, March 3 – 1:30-3:30pm

Come to an afternoon of crafts, activities and resources to help your family celebrate Lent.  Families with children of all ages are invited to attend.  It will take place in the St. Maurice Parish Atrium.  Please bring a snack to share (no nuts please). A free will offering of $10 will help to cover costs.  To register leave a message including the names of adults, and names and ages of children, for Meaghan Leung at 613-440-3883 by Tuesday, February 26th.

Pancake Supper

St. Simon’s Ministry is organizing a Pancake Supper at the parish that will take place on Shrove Tuesday, March 5th.  There will be two seatings for dinner: 430pm and 530pm with a maximum of 100 people per seating. At this time, on behalf on St. Simon’s, Mary Sheridan would like to request assistance in putting together this event.  There will be no charge for supper so we are asking for donations of the following:

  1.  Sausages – a dozen sausages either cooked or not cooked. (We would need to cook 2-3 sausages per person).
  2.  A bottle of maple syrup.  (12 bottles – one for each table)
  3.  A quart of strawberries (We would need 12 quarts of strawberries)
  4.  Time:  If you can volunteer to help with set up or clean up – that would be much appreciated

Many thanks for your consideration of this request!  If you can help out with any of the above, please contact Mary Sheridan at 613-224-0284 or by email:  mary_sheridan@sympatico.ca.

Our Next Class: Don’t forget!  Our next class is March 20, 2019 at 7pm.  Please arrive by 6:45 pm to sign in and get your materials for the month.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL FAMILIES – Baptismal Certificates:

Although most families brought the baptismal certificate to show to us at our first class, we do require that each family submit a copy of their child’s baptismal certificate for us to keep on file for the program.  You are welcome to either bring a photocopy to our next class, or you are welcome to scan/take a picture of your child’s certificate and e-mail it to me.  Whichever is easiest for you!

Please e-mail or bring in a copy even if your child was baptized at St. Maurice Parish.
