Dear Parish Family

Dear Parish Family

There is news that satanism in Canada is on the rise, and there will be an evil, sacrilegious ceremony, called a ‘black mass’ during the night of August 17 in Ottawa.

These ceremonies take place regularly, but this is the first time it will be publicly sanctioned.

For our part, we need not be afraid, or give this too much attention.  Yet, we must be soberly aware that we must not grow slack in utilizing the spiritual weapons that are at our disposal.

The best antidote to the ‘black mass’ is to reverently, devoutly and joyfully celebrate the Holy Mass.  The 5pm Saturday Mass on August 17 is our usual gathering at St. Maurice.  On this occasion, however, it can serve as a strategic response to spiritual darkness, by welcoming the Light of the World, Jesus Christ, into our midst in the Eucharist.

The Holy Rosary is also a powerful weapon, so let us seriously consider offering up an extra Rosary on August 17 to entrust ourselves, our families and our nation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who will crush the head of the serpent in triumph.

Two other specific events are appropriate and needed responses to this increase in overt evil in Ottawa:

  • to attend the Rosary Bowl at Lansdowne Park on August 22   (Visit www.RosaryBowl.com for details.)
  • and to consider praying in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during the All-night Prayer Vigil on September 7-8  (Click HERE for details.)

So, let us not focus on the evil that is happening, but rather let us, in sober awareness of its increase, turn our energies to the victorious solutions of the Holy Mass, the Rosary, and Eucharistic Adoration.  Remember, we are on the winning team.

Your fellow soldier with St. Maurice,
Fr. Tim
