Since March is coming in like a lamb, hopefully it will not go out like a lion. I am grateful to have an extra day in February, as there are many things happening at the parish, and lots to keep me busy. I hope that you also appreciate the extra day. Many thanks to those running the Alpha retreat this weekend. May God shower down abundant blessings of experiencing His love and healing.
The hiring committee has interviewed the applicants for the position of Communications Coordinator. Glenn Pereira has been selected. We joyfully welcome him to our parish staff starting this week. Special thanks to Mary-Anne for getting this position off the ground and paving the way for the work that Glenn will be doing. Let us pray for Glenn to adjust to this new job, and for Mary-Anne to settle well into her new position as clergy team administrator. Fr. Lawrence and I are looking forward to the extra help and organization she will provide.
Chris and I will be away from Thursday evening, March 5 until the evening of March 8. I am spiritual advisor on the Men’s Cursillo weekend in Orleans. Please keep all the men in prayer, that God will touch their hearts in a special way. As the clocks move forward one hour on that Sunday morning, I will be grateful to have Monday off to catch up on sleep, and probably some laundry.
Thanks to those who put forward their names for the ministry of ushering at St. Maurice Parish. If any are still considering, we could use a few more volunteers.
In light of recent headline news, you will notice that we have placed hand sanitation pumps at the various church entrances and bathrooms. Let us do our best to avoid spreading germs.
As we begin settling into our lenten practices and devotions, I pray that our hearts will become more aware of God’s goodness and mercy. Our present world is facing many different challenges. Let us truly repent, intercede for deeper conversion, and find refuge in the Immaculate Heart of His Mother, Mary.
Yours in Christ,
